get a new University Card if I lose it?

Don't panic! The nice people at York are very understanding, apparently it's not a surprise that students are forgetful and prone to losing things!

All you need to do is go to the Information Centre (that's the one with lots of glass and the big "i" outside, near Costcutter and Blackwells.

If you're lucky they will give you your first replacement card for free, after that it costs £10, which you can even pay for by debit/credit card.

Brilliant.

*Quick tip* Put your unicard in a protective wallet, because the barcode can rub off after a while!
